Reference Librarian

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in library and information science from an American Library Association accredited program
  • Two years of full-time (40 hours per week or equivalent) experience as a professional librarian
  • Certification by the State Librarian authorized through the Office of the Secretary of State, may be obtained upon conditional offer of employment
  • One year of full-time (40 hours per week or equivalent) library reference experience to include using virtual reference systems to serve customers as well as monitoring the daily operations of those virtual systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally statewide and overnight in support of outreach events
  • Valid Washington Driver’s license or the ability to obtain upon employment

Required education experience may be gained concurrently.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Washington State and Federal government
  • Knowledge of Washington State or Pacific Northwest history

COMPENSATION
$3213 - $4214 per month, depending on qualifications.  Washington State offers a full benefits package that includes health, life, and long term disability insurance; paid vacation, sick, and military leave; optional credit unions, savings bonds, and deferred compensation plans; eleven paid holidays; and a public employees’ retirement plan.
