Managing Librarian
Pierce County Library

Managing Librarian #02180-009 at our Graham Branch library is a full-time benefits eligible management position. The schedule is typically weekdays, however it does include occasional evenings and weekends. Salary starts at $5,326 per month.

A Managing Librarian at Pierce County Library System oversees and coordinates branch operations including public services, circulation, reference, library programming and community relations for an assigned group of library locations. Ensures high quality, customer-focused service, fosters and builds a team within each assigned library and with other Library System departments and locations. Analyzes library services and collection needs, identifies trends, developes goals and measurements. Recommends new and improved policies, procedures, practices, equipment, staffing and facilities while continuously striving to improve and advance library services. Builds relationships and connections with community agencies, institutions and individuals while representing Pierce County Library at community events.

Managing Librarian applicants must have a Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited Library & Information Studies program, including three years direct supervisory experience in a public library environment.
